    I bought a copy of this expansion for 2.99 and believe that I am missing some pieces. I have all the pieces listed on the rulebook but I have empty spaces for everything below the glass containers like in your video. Does the game not include the petri dishes? or how do you fill up the empty bottom half of the box?

    Question. Had a argument last night and I may be wrong but maybe you can see my reasoning. Played hunters dream, player did one dmg to me. Hunters dream says take half dmg (round down) since 0 is a value on the dice does 1 dmg round down to zero? That one dmg was going to kill me but since you can roll a 0 on the dice I figured 0 is a value we round down to. I was saying it rounds down to zero, they were saying I'm just saying that so I don't die but I felt like thats how it worked. Have any idea?

    • @faville
      @faville 5 днів тому

      Your question is slightly unclear. In this scenario, you had 1 health left and you were in Hunter’s Dream for the turn? If the player did 1 damage, your Dream status should reduce that to .5, which rounds down to 0 and you are safe. If the player did 2 damage, your Dream status would halve that to 1 damage and kill you. It has nothing to do with a 0 being on the die, just for when the halving results in a fraction.

      @@faville im saying I had 1 damage and they hit me for one damage, I was telling them it would round down to zero, they said no that would be too broken and you would be blocked all the time getting hit for one damage. I said they would have to hit me for two.

      @@faville I brought up the dice because they were saying zero isn't a number so it cant to zero damage, I was using the dice as an example that there's azero on the dice and we can roll a zero, so zero is possible

      @@Cerealkiller824 I see, thanks.That is a strange thing for them to argue. Of course zero is a number and damage can be rounded down to that.

    • @faville

      @@Cerealkiller824 Thanks for clarifying. If I am reading the rules correctly, since you were in the Hunter’s Dream, their molotov or cannon or whatever hit you for one damage would then indeed be halved to .5, which then is rounded down to zero. 👍 if you were ultimately a good sport about it, though I know it can be infuriating when you know you are right and the table is against you. This is one of those situations that would have made a great example for the developers to put into the instructions to help players, though on page 12 of the rulebook there is an almost exact replica of your situation with the Health of the player being 3, then taking 3 damage from the monster, but since they’re in Hunter’s Dream it is halved to 1.5 and rounded down to 1. Same applies to your situation, which saves you from dying.

    Great explanation. This is the American version which was adapted from the version 2 of the game. You can tell it's a later version because the swastika symbol has been replaced with an eagle. The classic rules are online and I recommend you use them. They don't have the escape markers and some versions don't use 'do or die' cards. Why do I know this? Only because whilst at the recycling dump this week I spotted a guy throwing away boxes and boxes of this game. I'd loved it as a kid and I knew one of the guys who created the BBV TV series in the 70s Anyway, these games had belonged to a writer called Michael Booker who had also been involved - along with Pat Reid - in developing the game. The haul I rescued contained prototype type games and unopened versions of V1 & V2. Back then they were made by Gibson Games and then Parker.

    I love Scythe and enjoyed hearing some of your back story into its creation. The art is amazing. I love that the setups are so random for every time the game is played. I highly recommend this game! My own contribution is that I am usually so caught in my own strategy that I forget to watch the other players. Things move quickly and often unexpectedly. I like that dice are not used and that the combat sequences do not dominate the game.

    very good video that helped me a lot, i feel i understand everything now except for one thing................are plot cards really restricted cards that land you in jail? that seems odd as i think it would almost ensure that you could rarely if ever win the game due to the amount of gestapo raids in the game and i\ll look again but i didn't see anything on first read of the rules that says plot cards are restricted. I'm ready to play my first game with friends and really need this cleared up, thanking you in advance.
